Akim Daouda is the Co-Founder and CEO of Mwaana Inc., a company dedicated to environmental conservation and economic development in the Congo Basin. With over 20 years of experience in infrastructure, climate finance, and sustainable investments, Akim leads efforts to protect 100 million hectares of forest by 2035 while fostering climate-resilient economic development and empowering local communities. Previously, Akim served as CEO of the Gabonese Sovereign Wealth Fund (FGIS), managing $1.8 billion in assets, leading Africa’s first $500M debt-for-nature swap, and facilitating the monetization of 90 million tons of UNFCCC REDD+ results. Akim also serves on the African Advisory Board of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and the advisory board of the Voluntary Carbon Market Initiative, bringing his expertise to global climate finance and carbon market initiatives.
